Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her name was associated with her as the co-star of Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 The group was just one of the female performers who gained of Prince's involvement throughout the 1980s. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career began as a model and actress in the late '70s including an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the leading woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period, she changed her name.) She then replaced Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the film with Apollonia 6 under their name. Sex Shooter, a minor-hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her biggest chart success. Kotero and Prince were at odds over her future career. The Apollonia6 duo split up, Kotero didn't remain in her relationship with Prince. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and as of the reports, refusing to take part on The Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon), she was cast in the 1985-1986 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, but it was a fairly pedestrian mix of dance and R&B music that did not really attract the attention of the general people. It quickly vanished completely from the public's view. In the years following, she continued to work as an actress (if a little off the radar) and also in a few TV roles, movies and even an exercise film. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. After returning to university she earned an associate's degree in filmmaking. She also founded her own company. Apollonia is a multi-talented woman. She has been an actress, singer, and model. She is best known as an actress who played the character in the movie Purple Rain from 1984. Kotero has appeared in several other movies and TV shows such as Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model.
